SAU Members have the right to establish Sub-groups and Working Groups, in consultation with the Executive Committee. Please get in touch with us if you would like to find out about joining an existing group or if you are interested in leading a new group focused on a particular issue important to you: campaigns@artistsunion.scot

Subgroups and Working groups are outlined in SAU's constitution as follows:
Subgroups focus on topic areas relevant to the aims of the Union. The purpose of the subgroups is to offer opportunities for members to volunteer and contribute input into the Union, in collaboration with the Executive Committee and staff team, throughout the year. The subgroups include Executive Committee members, staff team members and any SAU members who volunteer to take part. The subgroups may host discussion groups and events, and form working groups for project work and development. The aims of the subgroups will be to inform the Executive Committee and staff team on policy development and implementation between general meetings.
Subgroups will report to the Executive Committee.
Working groups focus on project work relevant to the subgroups, subcommittees or Executive Committee. Working groups will report to the subgroups, subcommittees and Executive Committee.
Intersectional Anti-oppression Subgroup
The union has established an Intersectional Subgroup made up of staff, members and Executive Committee members. The group is working together on an Intersectional Inclusion Strategy which is steered and overseen by the subgroup. The group works on collating information, resources and support as well as identifying training for members and executive members in discrimination, bias and privilege in order to adopt a union-wide, intersectional approach to solidarity.
Palestine Solidarity Working Group
At SAU's AGM in 2024 a motion was passed which affirmed SAU's solidarity with Palestine and support of PACBI. This Working Group focuses on how we as artists and art workers can be in solidarity with Palestine.
Climate and Sustainability Subgroup
The Climate and Sustainability Subgroup discusses and learns about how artists respond to the issues we face globally and locally due to climate change.
