Now open to members and prospective members! If you’re thinking about joining SAU and would like to learn more about unions and organising, come along! This session will focus on the fundamentals of union organising. Ever thought you should be in a union but weren’t entirely sure why? Ever wondered what it takes for unions to achieve victories, big and small? This session will cover the basics of building power through union organising and how that power can be used to make positive change to our work and to our lives. Solidarity Sessions are regular peer-to-peer learning sessions for SAU members and those interested in joining. These sessions will be open, welcoming and supportive, and directed by members’ participation and priorities. Register with Zoom here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

This discussion group has been developed by the union’s Intersectional Sub-group out of a desire to create a space to discuss equalities issues specifically in relation to our own working practices as artists and members of the union. Each session we will look at material together - texts, films, podcasts etc, as a way of opening up conversation about how we can question, challenge and shift our working practices to adopt more inclusive approaches. This month we are discussing Not Going Back to Normal - a collective disabled artists manifesto created in 2020 by Harry Josephine Giles and Sasha Saben Callaghan. Register with Zoom here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
