Circus Artspace (Inverness) and Deveron Projects (Huntly) will explore strategies for supporting artists and communities within the specific context of rural/semi-rural areas by asking: How do we create collaborative models which flatten hierarchies and respond to specific local, social and economic issues? How do artists/arts organisations embedded in place become more sustainable? What do we mean by ‘sustainable’?

In this session researcher Chris Biddlecombe will also provide an overview of the key findings from the ‘Artist-Led Organisations in Scotland: Survey and Mapping of Activity’ research report which has been undertaken by Scottish Artists Union on behalf of Creative Scotland.
