Work in the Arts: Saskia graduated from Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2019. Collaboration is integral to Saskia’s socially engaged practice, initiating a project called ‘Dain Hings’ whilst at DJCAD, hosting a number of exhibitions, workshops, residencies and events, bringing people together ‘tae dae hings’. Saskia and her father have recently set up an experimental bakery/kitchen/gallery; Narture in Ayr, exploring food as art and baking real bread to earn the dough to fund arts projects. Recently Saskia has been revisiting her printmaking into edible art, using molecular gastronomy and 3D food printing. This led to her being involved with Artists Tuckshop Cook Book, exploring sensorial interactions with food, constantly thinking of new ways to blend, visual art, sound and food together to create immersive experiences.
"I have always been interested in unions and professionalising the arts. Joining SAU as a recent Fine Art graduate was so important to me in order to get involved with raising awareness of the precariousness of the arts and culture sector. Promoting emerging artists, having a thriving arts community, which is vital for humanity".
